Module One: Communication
L.E.A.D. with Larry
I’m a Southern guy. I grew up eating Southern cornbread. It’s the kind that is cooked in an old black iron skillet. It’s not the sweet cornbread mix, but it is made from a recipe that is handed down through generations. There is just something about the wonderful smell, crispy edges, and incredible taste that I love. I know when I’m eating cornbread if it is truly “southern” cornbread or if it is some kind of mix that just doesn’t quite measure up to the original.
The same is true of relationships. Healthy ones have a recipe that defines the success, effectiveness, and fulfillment of the relationship. It is not complicated, but finding the right chemistry with someone takes being intentional and putting the needs of others before your own. It requires us to learn to speak the emotional or personality language of the other person. It also requires us to learn the skill of listening.
The good news is that we can learn how to use the recipe of having successful relationships in our lives. Take a minute to listen to this short podcast episode where we talk about finding the right mix or chemistry in our relationships. It may be just what you need to improve your connection with others.
Finding the right mix in our relationships is a powerful way to make a difference in the lives of others.

Every leader sets the tone for how people connect, share ideas, and solve problems. That tone starts with communication. When your message is clear and your presence is consistent, people know what to expect, which builds confidence across your organization.
Communication is more than just passing along information. It is how trust is built, how expectations are reinforced, and how people feel seen and valued. When communication is thoughtful and intentional, it brings focus to what matters most. When it is unclear or inconsistent, even the strongest plans can fall apart.
This is the first module in the L.E.A.D. Program because communication is the thread that ties everything else together. It influences how you handle challenges, how you support others, and how you show up in everyday moments. The tools you build here will support every conversation that follows.
In this module, you will strengthen how you speak, how you listen, and how you adjust your message for different people and situations. You will practice staying steady under pressure, asking better questions, and reading the nonverbal signals that shape how others respond. You will also explore how to be more intentional with your words and more consistent with your actions.
You do not need to have all the answers to be a strong communicator. You just need to be present, thoughtful, and open to learning. The skills you practice here will help you engage with confidence and create an environment where others feel heard and understood. Let’s get started!
